The Granary is a simple place to leave luggage in Portree for the day. Book online, bring your bags to staff, pay at drop-off, then collect before closing.

Drop off from 8:00am and collect by 5:00pm on your booking date.

Friday bookings must be collected by 5:00pm. The Granary is closed on Saturday, so items cannot be left overnight.

Include your country code if outside the UK, for example +1, +33 or +49.

Required because your confirmation email is used for collection.

Selections are subject to availability. If an item becomes unavailable after ordering, we'll contact you before collection to arrange a suitable alternative.

THE GRANARY LUGGAGE STORAGE

Terms of Storage

  • £7 per item.
  • Same-day storage only.
  • Payment is due when luggage is accepted.
  • All items must be collected before closing.
  • Luggage is stored in a locked staff-only area.
  • CCTV covers the entrance to the storage area.
  • A booking reference or claim ticket is required for collection.
  • If a claim ticket is lost, photo ID and a description of the luggage may be required before release.
  • Please tell staff if your luggage contains fragile or high-value items.
  • We cannot accept unsafe, hazardous, illegal, leaking, perishable or unsuitable items.
  • We may refuse very large, irregular or poorly packed items.
  • Customers are responsible for the contents of their luggage.
  • The Granary is not responsible for missed buses, ferries, tours, accommodation check-ins or other travel costs caused by late collection.
  • Uncollected luggage may incur additional storage charges.
  • The Granary reserves the right to refuse storage at its discretion.

Booking online is recommended, especially during busy periods, but we'll always do our best to accommodate walk-in customers if space is available.

Is my luggage stored securely?

Yes. All luggage is stored in a locked staff-only room. CCTV covers the entrance to the storage area, and each item is tagged before being stored.

Can I leave my luggage before checking into my accommodation?

Absolutely. Many of our customers arrive in Portree before their hotel, B&B or Airbnb check-in time. Luggage storage lets you enjoy the town without carrying your luggage.

Can I leave my luggage after checking out?

Yes. If you've checked out but aren't leaving Portree until later in the day, you can leave your luggage with us while you continue exploring.

Can I leave my luggage while hiking on Skye?

Yes. Whether you're heading to the Old Man of Storr, the Quiraing, the Fairy Pools or simply exploring Portree, you can leave your luggage with us and collect it before closing.

Can I store valuable items?

Please let a member of staff know if your luggage contains fragile or particularly valuable items. We recommend keeping essential travel documents, passports and medication with you.

What happens when I arrive?

Simply tell a member of staff you have a luggage storage booking.

We'll:

  • Check your booking
  • Count your items
  • Take payment
  • Attach luggage tags
  • Store your luggage securely

The whole process usually takes less than a minute.

What time do I need to collect my luggage?

All luggage must be collected before The Granary closes on the same day. If you're running late, please contact us as soon as possible.

Where is The Granary?

The Granary is located in the centre of Portree on the Isle of Skye, making it an ideal place to leave your luggage while exploring the town, visiting local shops and restaurants, or waiting for accommodation check-in.

Can I get coffee or food while I'm here?

Of course. While dropping off or collecting your luggage, you're welcome to enjoy speciality coffee, breakfast, lunch, homemade cakes or a drink at The Granary. You can also order packed lunches for a day out on Skye.

Can I order a packed lunch without luggage storage?

Yes. Packed lunches can be ordered on their own, or added to a luggage storage booking for the same day.
