Skye Companion

Privacy Policy

Last updated 13 July 2026

Skye Companion is built to work without collecting anything about you. This policy explains exactly what the app does and doesn't do, in plain terms.

No accounts, no tracking

Skye Companion doesn't require an account, doesn't use analytics, doesn't use advertising, and doesn't track you across other apps or websites. There is no backend server that stores information about you or your device.

Location

If you choose to share your location, the app uses it once, on your device, to work out which part of Skye you're nearest to, so it can suggest local routes and places. This lookup happens entirely on your phone. Your location is never sent anywhere, never stored beyond that single lookup, and never shared with us or anyone else. You can decline location access entirely and the app still works — you'll just be asked to pick your area manually.

Weather

To show a live forecast, the app sends only a latitude and longitude to Open-Meteo, a free weather service, in order to fetch that location's forecast. No name, device ID, or other identifying information is sent with that request.

Purchases

The optional one-time unlock is processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We never see or store your payment details — Apple handles the transaction and confirms back to the app whether it succeeded.

Saved items

If you bookmark a route, place, or food stop, that's stored only on your device so your saved list is there next time you open the app. It's never transmitted anywhere.

Data we collect

None. We don't operate any servers, so there is nothing for us to collect, store, or lose.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes — for example, if a future version of the app adds a feature that uses data differently — this page will be updated and the date above will change.
